Optotek's linear UV LED arrays are intended for UV exposure applications, including the curing of photosensitive materials and in computer-to-plate and related digital printing applications.

These UV arrays are modular in design, allowing curebar construction of any desired length. (Examples include 20.5 inch curebars for linear scanning applications and 0.5 inch curebars for dual-axis scanning).

Power outputs range from 2 to 5 watts/sq.cm. (@ 10 mA) at peak wavelengths ranging from 365 to 395 nm. 15 watts/sq.cm. (@ 60 mA) can be achieved with liquid cooling.

LED placement consists of staggered 16 element blocks in two lines with a single LED pitch (0.014 inch) line separation. Novel optical configurations are used to achieve LED line widths of 0.1 inches.

  • Average drive current for the 1,464 LED curebar should be limited to about 30 amps (20 mA/LED).

  • An average current of up to 30 Amps can be provided using the transformers shown in this Drive Conditions schedule. This current can be doubled to 60 Amps average using a bridge rectifier for full wave rectification at the output of the secondary of the step-down transformer increasing the power output to 15 W/cm2. Liquid cooling should be used.

  • A center tapped transformer secondary could be used for higher efficiency rectification (one diode drop instead of two).
