LED displays generally fall into two categories: visual displays and displays for marking photosensitive materials. Both types are available as standard products or in custom configurations.

Alphanumeric and switch products are also available in multicolor configurations which generate red, green, blue and intermediate colors.

Photoexposure displays are produced for military aerial reconnaissance film marking and non-impact printing. Emission wavelengths can be matched to the spectral response of most photoreceptors. Displays for such applications are normally equipped with either a fiber-optic face plate for contact type printing or with self-focusing fiber-optics, collimators, or relay lenses for applications where photoreceptor contact is not practical.
Optotek manufactures a range of LED printheads for high speed non-impact printing applications. These printheads, trademark Printstic®, incorporate integrated drive electronics and are available in resolutions up to 1000 dots per inch. On-board electronics accommodates LED uniformity correction or use of grey scale. Modular design allows construction of almost any length from common building blocks. Since each module has independent data input, the effective bit rate is independent of printhead length.
Optotek is a supplier to several major U. S. and European defense programs and many of its products are built and qualified to meet stringent military specifications.
Test equipment allowing field testing and calibration is also manufactured.
Custom integrated circuits, originally developed for LED display and interfacing subsystems, are available for use in other applications.
Optotek also provides consulting services on LED product design, testing, and applications.
